Region: Islay
Alder: 8 år

First release for Fèis Ìle 2021 is a delicious 8 year old smoky whisky. Finished in Bordeaux casks, this limited edition has notes of rich spice, dark grapes and hints of cocoa and warming chilli to create a truly special dram.
“Kun” 5166 flasker!
Smell: Intense fruit mingles with peat smoke. There’s plum and blackcurrant. Glace cherries too. Woodsmoke. A little peppery spice. A splash of water brings out some honey and vanilla. Chocolate and coffee.
Taste: Big fruity arrival quickly turns to fire and brimstone. Lots of pepper, plenty of oak and a cloud of smoke on the finish. Before then we get notes of red apples and cherry. Water tones down the spice and dials up the fruits. The dram is much better for it. It seems to take longer to develop with the water and if anything, the mouthfeel improves.
Thoughts: Were I to walk into a shop tomorrow and see a bottle sitting there I would buy it on the spot. I can’t really give it any more credit than that. The Moine series has produced some absolute belters along the way, this one is no different.
I just love drams like this. It’s a complete assault on the senses but in the best possible way. It’s smoky, yes, but there’s so much more going on too. The combination of powerful cask finish and characterful malt could so easily become chaotic but that isn’t what happens here. The two collaborate beautifully and the end result is one of the most satisfying sips I’ve had in a long time.

A five-year-old Islay bottled by Signatory. It’s from a secret distillery, even we don’t know which one, but it’s a well-peated, satisfying dram, and we have a few ideas about where it comes from…
Nose: Tar, roadworks and buttery grass. Caramel and honey provide the sweet touch.
Palate: Sweet then peat! Sugared lemon peel followed by woodsmoke, leather and tyres.
Finish: Smokey sweetness lingers.
Overall: A great Islay, wherever it’s from.

Navn: Private Cask – Kjølsen & Watt-Boolsen
Region: Islay
Alder: 10 år (05.2006 – 12.2016)
Procent: 64,8%
Diverse: Bourbon – fad nr. 0319
A great mix of grass & hay and sweet vanilla in the smell. Hints of fresh mint as well.
Very fresh in the taste. Classic Bourbon cask influence. Vanilla, oak and spices, but also the classic Bruichladdich farmer style is present. The finish is long and warm. Oak and hay comes more forward as the alcohol roughness tones a bit down.
Not overly complex, but a great example of what a 10 year old Bruichladdich can be when matured in a quality ex-Bourbon barrel. 64,8% – plenty of room for you to play around with water, so you can find the exact sweet spot for you!

Alder: 21 år

Diverse:

Alder: More than 10 years old

Distilled before 1983
A now long delisted single malt from a distillery that was silent up until 2015 but with no official bottles available as most of the output going for blending needs this 10 year old from the 1990’s remains the only way of trying this forgotten Speyside.
Nose: Rustic oatmeal, touches of smoke, stewed fruits (rhubarb & apple) malty ginger, waxy orange rind. Palate: Spicy fruitcake, waxy citrus, hints of smoke and salty nuts, barley sugar and orange rind. Finish: Spicy and peppery oak, ginger, fruitcake, citrus, hint of salty smoke.
Very good old fashioned Speyside, very Strathisla esque.
